;D I bought the grocery store variety this year, shucking 30 bucks out for it. I use to go out in the woods and cut a red cedar for Christmas but my family ostracised me so much for being 'so cheap', the past couple of years I have given in so we can 'have one like everyone else has'. What was the price of your tree this year and how do you feel about the status quo?

Its a yearly tradition to go to the local tree farm and take about 3 hours looking at all of the trees to cut 2 or 3 times before finally making a choice. I know when we go its gonna take a spell to find one so i don't mind. i cruise the edges looking for sign between looking at trees . they actually are reasonable with their normal white pines at $25 and the douglas firs for $40 for any size tree you want. finally after looking at all of them a few times , the bowsaw gets to cut it down. a nice fresh tree that should last through the new year . we tie it off to the roof and off we go. Christmas Caroles are always on the radio another tradition. we got a nice tree 7 foot wideglide variety ( hardly fits in the door) white pine for a nifty $25. everyone was happy including Dad . as a sidenote , this year my wife bought this treestand that was supposed to be the best. it adjusted the tree very well and it was stable, so i opted "not" to put my usual 3 inch drywall screws holding the tree in place. i probably dont need to say what happened lmao... yep the other night it came tumbling down , only broke 1 ornament but was quite the pain to tear apart and do over....( note to self... for 20 plus years you screwed the tree to the floor dont ever "not " do it again . ) it now has 3 nice 3 inch screws holding it in place

Nc , i'm thinking i could shape and prune a few 10 of the trees in the clearcut nextdoor that were planted . not sure if it will work. i told Barb we should have checked out the pines next door first but she just called me cheap lol

Call me a heathen, but we finally broke down an bought an artificial tree. I like the smell of a real tree, but you can get that in a can. Ours looks very real, and it saves money in the long run. Real trees are pretty expensive in the metro area. Used to be $50 or more. It's been a while since I priced one, but I figure the artificial tree paid for itself in 3 years.

Bought an artificial tree a few years back, pre-light and the whole nine yards. I got tired of the cats using the real tree as a jungle gym. My wife and I would leave for work only to return and find an ornament hear and there from one of them climbing up and knocking them off. Usually was the glass variety. Not to mention the numerous times that they toppled the thing. Now, they want nothing to do with the prickly pipe cleaner. ;D

I don't know what happened to all the cats that once roamed the neighborhood around here. Seldom see one anymore.

Actually I split my time growing up between Glen Burnie, Pasadena, and Middle River. I moved back to Pasadena about 10 years ago. The funny thing is I graduated from Chesapeake in Baltimore County.

We always go out back and hunt up a wild one.I've convinced the wife it's the "right" way to do it,(actually I am CHEAP ;D) but she still won't let me go cedar, like when I was a boy. She wanted to fill up the addition I did last year.First tree STILL didn't fit after I took about another coule feet of the bottom-was STILL 9' wide.Second tree fit, with major surgery.Towed them back for another brushpile.Kids get a kick out of seeing the skeletons of Christmas past.
