Quite a squall. A couple of years ago the wife & I chartered a sailboat in St. Martin, Leeward Islands in the Caribbean. On the sail over to the island of Anguilla we had a squall approach like that, and while we were looking at it a tornado punched down and hit the water a mile or two away. It started one heck of a water spout. We immediately dropped the sails, started the engine and powered directly away. I ran below to get the camera but it was gone when I got back on deck. Cool pic.
I went through a typhoon (which is a hurricane, but just in the Pacific Ocean instead of the Atlantic) when I was in the Navy. That was an experience I'll never forget. Swells crashing over the flight deck, nobody allowed on the outside skin of the ship, being tossed out of bed at night.....
I wish the digital camera was invented at the time. I'd definitely like some pics of that event.
