they tell me the heat index was over 120 for six of the twelve hours we worked today and we carried the news. When we started this morning, there was no turning back as we have to beat the rain or fail. I was ok thru the day but right at the end after it had cooled off some, it hit me. I was in enough trouble I wouldn't climb down the ladder until I rested first. We did two day's work in one day but I'm totally spent. Gotta go again tomorrow. I'm still vunerable to rain until I get these *^/`~ roof drains out so I can send the water someplace besides on top of 20 computers. Dick, how much do you know about roof drains?

i honestly dont know how you do it . roofing is some tough stuff to do in any type weather let alone 120ish . you best take care of yourself , we got stuff to take care of come November. i'll be home for the next week or so putting a new floor in the living room. heat index of like 72 .

lmao a jackleg , if they only knew how many roofing nails you have driven . a jackleg wouldnt take the time to be sure to do the job the right way , they would just rig it up enough to get paid . actually that site was on my favorites , i had to do some work on a deck with the stuff and had to flash the posts sometime back, wanted to make sure to get it right .

How hot is it? Took my shower while ago and noticed my back a little hot so I asked my wife to look at it. Sunburn. Now that's real interesting considering I never once took my shirt off. I guess the shirt being wet and sticking to my back reduced the protection today.

typically the temp in the sun is around 15 degrees warmer than in the shade.
An object in the sun can get even hotter. Metal roof for example, we measured one last week with an authentic roof thermometer and the temps were over 130 ... and that was before the heat turned up.
Today was a cooker here just like the past two days. We finally got thunderstorms late this evening and it's suppose to be not as hot tomorrow. LOL

yea i know it was wrong but it still was funny when i looked at it . the bad thing here is i believe the cold front has gone through .... and not a drop of rain fell the trees are starting to try and shed some leaves, the grass is beginning to die in the yard and the corn in the area is just about beyond repair. its wierd how just across the bay and 100 miles north they have had too much rain but not a drop fell on the shore .

I've got a black cover on the grill, and it's kinda spooky to pull the cover off and see the temp at 150 degrees without having the burners even on.
