ive had the 12 volt side of the converter go out twice now and take days to be able to reset. i've decided i've had enough and will be putting a new converter in. since the one in there is only a 15 amp one its under powered anyway. i'll go with a 30 amp service so i can get the air conditioner on its own circuit. having trouble finding a power station with an outlet on it. mine in there has one and i hate to lose any outlets. i looked at the centurion power panel but i would have to put another outlet in it. ebay has only 1 used camper converter with an outlet and the amperage isnt listed , i did ask. used may be not the wise way to go though its at 16 bucks right now maybe worth the chance. anyone have any experience with converters, i'll put the camper back up tonight and pull the old one out and take a looksy at what i'm into.

Why use a converter at all for the AC? The only thing that runs from DC is the light and fridge. Looks to me like you could wire the camper for AC current seperate and just plug the air conditioner in to the outside power source. I may be showing my ignorance here as I know little about converters.

my ac is run through the converter right now. it is the old style that they no longer use it is a 15 amp that uses 1.9 amps for the 12 volt lights putting out 6 amps dc. the remaining 13.1 amps ac are available for use. 13 amps just isnt enough to run everything and the air too. so i figure i need a new converter and a power box. i plan on using a 30 amp breaker box with 3 breakers . 1 for the new converter which shouldnt use much at all , one for the front half of the camper and 1 for the air conditioner. i'll get a 20 amp converter which is much more than the 6 amp one i'm using now so i figure i can get a new ceiling fan since the other one dont work for crap. the 20 amps should power the dc side up good. it looks like the water tank which i will never use gotta go though, looks very difficult to take out too. the one i have now is underpowered or i would just use it plus the 12 volt side seems to quit when it wants and wont reset . might go ahead and use it in my other apache . not sure if i can find a new reset for the dc side or not.

by the way i thought the converter acted as a converter for the 12 volt and a power source, they no longer make them like that.

i bought a converter /power station. it has a 30 amp ac service with enough room for 4 curcuits and a 20 amp output dc (compared to 6 ) with enough room for 6 dc curcuits. it was a good deal for 60 bucks regularly 125 on ebay . i do believe i am going to have to can the water tank though in order to have the proper room and ventilation for this to work properly. besides i have never used the tank at all and i can still hook water up directly to the sink. removing the tank will give me tons of room for the wiring and converter and with some left for storage. i may have problems removing it without destroying it though, i think they fed it through the refridgerator spot before putting in the fridge , and i'm not removing the fridge to remove it if so sawzall it right in half if i have to . i'll take some pics of the process and hopefully this will end the blackouts with plenty more power for the lights and the ac side will get a boost also.

finally got it all together . hard to really check the new power since i'm plugging into a 15 amp service here at home but the fan works better and the lights are brighter. been running the air and some other stuff with no problems. when i get to a campground with 30 amps it should be good to go running the ac with no problems. now i'm gonna hook up an old battery i have on the front for some primitive heater fan action. .
