My raingear is either overkill or leaky it seems. I have a set of the Helly Hansen PVC oilskins that's good for running traps from a boat or duck hunting but it's definately not designed for bowhunting. Past couple of years in mild temps I used Sterns Dry Wear and it's decent rain wear for cheap stuff but it just isn't very durable. Last season the jacket started leaking bad so I stopped by Uncle Bens in Ky and picked up a new 10X jacket. About 2 weeks later my pants started leaking really bad making me regret being so cheap and only buying a jacket. Now I'm in need of new pants. The 10X stuff is pretty good so far as keeping me dry but it makes a squishy noise if I move much. I don't know if a deer could hear it but I don't care for the noise at all. I sure would like to try Rivers West but my pockets never seem to be that deep. From what I read though, it's about the best stuff around and it would probably work out cheaper in the long run if it's as durable as it's advertised to be. Maybe just a pair of pants ... What do you use and what would you like to use?

Right now I'am using one of those cheap two piece plastic rain suits.I bet I didn't put it on but a couple of times last year. You end up getting wetter from your sweat than you would have from the rain without it.I'am hoping to go today and get one at the local retail store that is made with Gore-Tex.

I assume you get the emails too. I was looking at it earlier. ;D The water resistant means I'm thinkin maybe RiversWest pants and a Stormcloth Jacket but it doesn't look like the jacket has any pockets. hmmmm .... thing that bugs the bejeebers outta me is one of the biggest bucks I ever saw up close while hunting was directly after a pouring rainy spell ended. I had my PVC on under camo and it poured that morning. I was watching fletchings coming off my arrows it had rained so long and hard. Suddenly the rain stopped and in 15 minutes I had does under me with the sun breaking thru. Then he passed by and was gone BUT, I'd never have even seen him if I hadn't been hunting in pouring rain. For a big bucks, hunting in the rain is almost as high percentage as it gets IMHO and I probably should really consider spending the money and going RiversWest. I don't like to be cold and wet and I fully intend to hunt in it. Here's the link to River$ We$t ; www.riverswest.com/flash.htmlof course the H&H PVCs will keep me dry and not cost anything.

i just looked at the rivers west sample you gave me and put it to the test. that stuff is really remarkable. not a drop even while stretching the lightweight material. shame they dont carry predator brown . i actually have some rain proof scentlock stuff, it sounds like hunting in a garbage bag unless its raining then the sound is baffled. again i'm not sure the deer hear the noise but i do and it bothers me alot. it does make you move less though

the stuff on cabelas apperas to be a slight knockoff of the rivers west. with the savings on that stuff it may be worth buying for regular hunting cloths. one thing i have learned through the years... water -resistant isnt water-proof

There are several products on the market that resemble RiversWest, Browning hydrofleece comes to mind, BUT I've never seen anything like the Riverswest fabric. It's absolutely amazing. I relate it to membrane roofing. There's a lot of membranes out there, over 30 types. Some are very good. Some are crap. Man this stuff is expensive but the last thing I want to do is spend a pile of money and then wish I'd spent just a little more.

Still racked with indecision and time ticks on. I got the Cabelas Deer Hunting sale catalog yesterday and noticed the Silent Pro Rainwear is priced right too. The RiversWest stuff in Cabelas isn't the stuff I want. Naturally the riverswest stuff I like is much more expensive. The silent pro may be good?
