"When you shoot with a gun, one miss is just as vexatious as another. It is a miss -- maybe an inch, maybe an ell, who knows? -- and you gain nothing from it. Your bird is missed, that is all. But with the bow it is the reverse. Will's miss was almost as pleasurable as a hit -- the bird had such a hair breath escape -- the shot was so well sent.." -- Maurice Thompson, The Witchery of Archery, 1879, p.192

ok, well I'm makin some flu-flu arrows up. I think I've still got some judo points around here someplace. Dove season opens Saturday here and I think it'll be good just to have some clean fun again, like I did as a boy. ;D I can brag a good fashion if I get one or two.

I know I can kill a goose with my bow up here . I know a spot where they generally hang out and once you get in there and setup, they will walk right by ya feeding . i've never hunted geese because I always heard they aren't very good eating never had one either lmao. I see literally tens of thousands during the winter monthes and never once tried to kill one. they fly right over the house daily in the winter, sometimes very low too .

a goose is kinda greasy but still good tablefare. I think grilling one may be the way to go.
I'm debating whether to buy another duck stamp this year or not. I am going dove huntin Saturday though unless it's raining.

Here in KY we have to buy a migratory game bird permit to hunt Doves or use a Federal Migratory Bird Stamp.

We all have lifetime sportsman's licenses here and are not subject to new licensing laws so I'm not up on that end of the regs. We do have to have a HIP certification for most migratory birds but it comes with the tags if we ask for it and we always do.
