I think i'm going to give this a try maybe get enough stuff for 2 except for the camera. it will be easier the 2nd time around i'm sure. has anyone ever given it a shot or thought about it. i'm getting the 2 moultries because i will be able to use them in certain spots but i'm not expecting miracles from them . i've heard the homemade ones work much better with a faster trigger speed. Kentucky Redneck sent me a link to a fairly easy looking setup . i'll use the olympus d395 camera in my first one . 3.2 mp pixcontroller.com/Build-D360L/BuildD360L.htm

i found the cases for 20 shipped in black . the cameras go for around 60 and the motherboards are 75 so it looks like for around 155 or so i can build a 3.2 mp trailcam with a better trigger speed.

go boy go. remote sensing. Are there homemade trailcams with remote sensors where you can set the camera back away from the sensor to get an overall pic of a spot instead of an individual deer pic? I can think of several applications where such a rig could be useful. One would be for security at parking areas. If a sensor could be set up covering the parking area and a camera hidden up on the hill, anytime there was activity in the parking area, a pic could be taken without alerting the location of the cam.

i dont know about the remote sensor thing . as i read more i'll find out. they look fairly simple to make , just have to figure out which cameras actually have the best trigger times and good pixels for cheap lol.

I just won a olympus D-360L off ebay last night so as soon as the wife gets home im going to have her to order the board and the case.. hopefully it will be as easy as everyone says it is.
Rick what did you decide to do about your cams. If you decide to build on and have trouble give me a holler and i can ask the other guys.

yeah i was being out bid on them all weekend and finally won this one lastnight. It does look real easy though. Im going to just build this one and start saveing up for another cam. Let me know how you like this P-41 and how easy it was and just maybe it will be my next, Ill do the same. We need to hurry up and get them made so we can get a few pics before the thief getts ahold of it.

We need to hurry up and get them made so we can get a few pics before the thief getts ahold of it. lol i'm gonna put a dyepack in mine so it explodes on them if they dont open it up right . i need to read up on the infrared flash so i can try that too. i think the flash is what gives most of them away. i'll put mine in places where they "shouldnt" get found . from what i am reading the p41 has about the fastest trigger speed but they just keep going up over 100 bucks on ebay. i can get one direct from sony for 129 plus shipping but i'm looking to try and get one for somewhere around 75 if possible.

i got my pixcontroller boards and the cases on the way. also got 1 camera , now i need another and i'll be set. i made sure to order the foam backing with the cases. sony p32 will be in one and i'm hoping for a sony p41 in the other if i win it. with a 3.2 mp and a 4.1 mp the pictures should be super clear. in the long run they will cost me a little more than i wanted but they will definitely be better than the 1.3 mp moultrie i was going to buy. cant wait to get them and put one together . now i'm done spending for the year

i think pixcontroller is way slow, they wrote me when i purchased them assuring me they would be shipped within 5-7 days that way slow to me. i need to get a soldering iron , i don't even own one lol. luckily they are way cheap. i should get my cases by friday and the first camera before that , i'll also be waiting on my control boards.
