Haven't been out yet but will be off to scout a few spots this afternoon to see what crops are in the fields I'm gonna hunt later this week. I got all of my shooting practice down and just got me some new Thunderheads ... I should be getting out in the next couple days since I am off until Thursday evening  |

I went out for the first time in the evening on Oct 6th but didn't see anything. I went out tonight at about 4 pm and stayed till dark, I watched a big bodied spike eat acorns for about an hour or so before he walked towards the field. I watched him sniff the path that I used to walk in for about 5 minutes as he would sniff the groung and look around. He must have thought he smelled something abnormal but he never really spooked. I wasn't interested in getting a shot at him but he never presented any anyway ....

I was off today and blackpowder season is in , so I decided to head out with mine. I went down south of me on public land, I was the only one there . I went in around noon and by 1 I had seen 1 spike buck ... The wait till 5:30 was long and uneventful. About 5:45 I had a forked horn but come within 20 feet of me and browse around for just a bit , too small to use my buck tag on. About 20 minutes later a basketracked 8 pointer came from the same trail , unfortunately it got dark before I had to pull out . A fox kept barking along the field edge .. Sunny skies, nearly a full moon , hunting in the staging area of the woods. 3 bucks sighted ... |

Shot 1 big nanny doe with my bow so far, no nice bucks to shoot at yet .... here is a view from my treestand  |

I shot a big doe this morning from that stand, its a mile and a half drag and it took 2 hours and kicked my ass  I should have held out but I need the meat and have taken a new outlook on killing does lol Time to fill the freezer . |
