I'm starting to really get depressed about deer hunting this year. I've had too many obstacles and road blocks to be able to go out hunting as much as I would like to. And everytime I do get a chance to go, the wind is blowing so hard that you can't hear, the trees are moving all around, and the deer just hide in their windbreaks. I thought finally.....a 4 day weekend, I'll be able to go out Thanksgiving morning for a hunt but now their calling for 22 mph winds with 40 mph gusts. I think I've only had one hunt this season where the wind was fairly calm. It's calm during the week for the most part and then kicks up when I am able to go on the weekends. The two places I go hunting, the deer do not move or atleast they don't come into my area when it's really windy. Can't say as I blame them, I'm getting really frustrated to the point that if their calling for high winds I don't even want to go now. Gun season opens Monday and I'd really hoped to get a nice buck before hand, we all know how much harder it gets after gun season. I had a really nice buck walk by my stand last friday evening, chasing a doe around, he had to be between 20 - 24" outside spread and the main beams curved around and went straight out.......his rack was atleast a foot and a half off the top of his head......big bodied buck......but he didn't offer me a good shot. I've been back there a couple times since, with the wind blowing 20 mph +, and haven't seen him. I just can't seem to get a break with the wind.
I'm done whining now.

I see a lot deer in the wind. I have a couple of setups, one is a double Oak on the side of a ridge in a hollow. I set up in between the Oaks on the smaller one which is 6 feet around. The other one shields what little wind comes down, mostly it goes over me.
The other setup again is on a big oak next to a thicket and the thicket provides a bit of a shield.
It's tough hunting though. I'm standing nearly the whole time , continuously scanning with the bow in my hand. You can't rely on sound. Same deal with a light rain. You got to be ready to go.
