With Dec here already, now is the time to start timing out the "Secondary Rut". the secondary rut in case you dont know is when all the does come back into heat if they didnt get impregnated. The secondary rut generally runs 30 days after the initial rut. the secondary rut is ussually slight and hardly noticable. some years though if the initial rut was sparse, the secondary rut can be a very good time to be out in the woods ( like anytime isn't). I have seen years when the secondary rut outperforms the initial rut. the great thing about it is the hunting pressure is less also. either hunters have either tagged out to their liking or simply have had their fill of the luxuries of hunting lol. if you have any buck tags left now is the time to start planning your moves for the secondary rut.

Freedom, We usually see somewhat of a pronounced second rut on my leases. New rubs will be seen, few new scrapes here and there and you will see bucks with their nose down and tail out trailing. This year the second rut should hit during our late muzzleloader which opens 12/10.
