from the Federal public land that I'd been hunting. I'm getting a little tired mentally, my enthusiasm in waning and I have the late season hunt after Christmas and need to scout that one out a little better. I feel that I did a decent job of getting the read on the areas of the property that I was focusing on learning for next year.
As I've progressed in my hunting over the years the importance of scouting and being prepared for a property is something that has become a pressing need for me. At this point I am just so compelled to adequately scout and prepare for the upcoming late season hunt. And after making that setup in that Willow last week, I realized that I can do better. That I can make better setups and that I need to be commited towards making better setups.
I have 10 days before I start my hunt there, I'll start preparations tomorrow.

It's 12 with a wind chill of 0, here at 1:00. I think I'll work on getting my gear square. ;D

This afternoon my wife went to her sister's, took the kids with, they're baking Christmas cookies. So I had the place to myself to work on my gear. I pulled it all out of the truck and laid it out in the living room and piece by piece went through it all. Had to replace a few nuts on the sticks, wasn't a safety issue just that the steps were too loose. I added extension straps to all the sticks and put together a couple of extra straps straps together for the Willow stand. Washed and packed all my late season clothing. Shot the bow. I have 10 yards set up from a chair in the dinette, down the hall into the basement, elevated around 12 feet, practised on the 3-D Target, hard quartering to and away, with the exact gear, I'll be hunting with. The bow is spot on. Organized and packed all my gear according to the late season requirements. Everything is packed into the truck nice and neat except for the bow, which I'll continue to practise with. Downloaded some real good aerial photographs of the areas I've already scouted and a few additional areas that I want to check out. It'll give me a little time to ponder the topography. I just need to get out there and scout out a few more good setups. It'll warm up by Wed. I don't know I really enjoyed this day. Getting my schit square, clearing my head, relaxing a little bit, getting my focus back, it feels good.

God knows I'd hate to see what your shaft looked like if you sent one in 3 inches lower. LOL
