Went out tonite and setup right by that old treestand . about 4:30 i had a forky chase a doe by , they were moving on. saw him 3 different times chase her across a logging road. i grunted and stopped him once but just took aim without even touching the safety, he just isnt worth shooting this year. later around 5:08 i had a real nice 8 join the fun. it didnt take him long to run off the fork. he is a borderline p&y , a matter of how many deductions he would have. it was just a bit too dark to take a running shot on him since he wouldnt stop running the doe. i even resorted to a loud yell once when he was crossing the road, but no go. they stayed in the area for a while after dark which kept me in my tree. eventually the doe ran away with him following her still. i left the stand and am going back tomorrow. i think i will take the bow and ml with me and decide once there which to use. this doe wasnt a yearling, but was obviously in heat again. i hope to get a chance at him tomorrow. i think he will show up in the same area, just a matter of when. first chase i have seen all year, got my enthusiasim (sp) going again though. ;D

Had 3 bucks running one Friday.Deer everywhere.Got in there early this afternoon, and one doe came by right at 5:15.Then I bumped some about 1/4 mile away on the walk out.I really wish the DNR would give us a 2 week break between shotgun and ML.Would rather hunt the first week of January.Where I was this evening was bow range at best, but way too thick to try to sneak an arrow thru.
