i think the last couple years of being able to shoot 12 deer with each weapon, for a total of 36 deer a year, is finally taking its toll of the whitetail population. not only do i see less deer from the stand, but less deer along the roads at night, and less deer in the fields in the evenings, even during the summer, there is noticably less deer around. the state has finally accomplished what it set out to do, deminish the deer population!!! they should cut the bag limits back to 2 bucks and 2 does per weapon. anybody else seeing this in there hunting area?

I noticed it during the late bow season, and really noticed it after gun season was over. think they will change them? hell no they wont. myself i say only 1 buck per weapon and maybe 3 does per weapon as a start, but that won't happen. people coming from out of state and other places are stacking them up while here with no daily bag limits. 1 or 2 deer per day would be nice to curtail that situation.

I saw quite a few deer this year... but in general too many 1 1/2 old bucks... One buck per year is a good idea in my book.

limiting the bag limit on bucks to one a year, is not going to help the situation, if anything its gonna make it worse. because then you will have more does being shot, they need to cut the bag limit on does. 10 does a weapon is just rediculous!!

if i was king , i would break the state back up into 4 sections again. all sections would only get 1 buck , no matter what weapon. i would set the doe regs according to deer populations. here on the shore it would be 1 buck with 4 does no matter what weapon you used. i would definitely set the daily bag limit at 2 deer per day.
with that being said, its never gonna happen unless hunters do something about it. i see the same regulations being set for next year as this year. the bottom line is they dont give a hoot about how many deer there are, its all about the money. they will never admit that the populations have decreased any, fact is the insurance companies are in their back pockets. basically its up to the hunters to not take as many but i'm afraid that wont happen either. things will only get worse imo, until you wont see hardly any deer at all like it was in the early 80's . nothing more discouraging than going hunting for days on end and not seeing anything.

IMHO If the harvest numbers go down (indicating a reduction in herd) I believe they will reduce the bag limit. I'd love to see a one-buck limit state-wide. Agreed on deer management areas... the herd numbers vary so greatly that two areas is not a fine-enough granularity to manage properly. They do attempt some local management - for example the doe take in Montgomery County is unlimited where populations are over 100 deer per square mile, and landowners are really squalking about crop/shrub damage. I personally know someone who has killed 47 deer in Mont county - all with a bow.
