Hey guys, just wondering what your thoughts on the Jimmy Houston thing are? It seems to be dominating every other forum in cyberspace!

i've seen it everywhere, i'm not all that surprised. fact is if we knew everything about all these jamokes on the oln , we would find out they all suck. these penned up hunts and showing 50 shooters in a field while they wait for the perfect buck doesnt help anyones cause. i'm not surprised by it though, i figure 90% of them cheat in some way or fashion... be it penned hunts or little mexicans driving the deer to them. most of these show guys would be eating tag soup if they had to really hunt.

Sometimes there's a good bit of distance between the professional and the sportsman.
Money tends to corrupt the sport.

"Money tends to corrupt the sport."
Good point. Doing anything for money seems to suck the spirit out of it. Suddenly there are expectations, deadlines, and quotas that didn't exist before. This leads to shortcuts that eliminate the sheer pleasure of doing a thing. Most-times, doing something the hard way without the crutches or shortcuts is the thing that gives us the most pleasure. For example, I'll spend 3 hours in the basement making an antler bottle opener as a gift. Of course, if I had to make them for a living I'd have to make ten in the same amount of time, and then I'd feel rushed and pressured and no longer enjoy the work.
Some things are best left as hobbies, and hunting is one of them.
