I headed home from work about 7:30pm, and there were many fields filled with deer. It's interesting... some nights therea are no deer in the fields, some nights just a few here and there, and sometimes, like last night, it's like the deer everywhere in the county decided it was time to hit the fields! Man, I wish I could predict this! Just for fun I'm going to start keeping track of the moon during these events - 17% waxing, Transit time: 4:45 pm EDT. Weather was settled and seasonal.

It has been crazy here in west kentucky over the last 4-5 days. Deer have been everywhere. Seen 47 deer in one field and numerous other fields with 10-20 in them.
Had 2 bucks come into my turkey setup Sunday already sporting 3-4" of new antler growth. Then had a group of 5 bucks with knobs walk through a valley yesterday eating on grasses.

That kinda confirms what I thought I saw Sunday afternoon. I went up to my property in Gates Co and planted about 250 sawtooth sprouts on the neighbors property that was clearcut after hurricane Isabell. Later on, toward dark, I was back on my land reattaching some of my tree tubes to the stakes and I noticed a good size deer on a trail. I was almost sure I saw 'clubs' sticking up and not little stuff either. My property is really coming around now into something like I envisioned when I bought the place. When I bought it, it had just been logged and was really rough stuff with tops and tree trash everywhere. I cleaned it up and designed my paths and food plot with the future in mind. Well, the future is now and my original plan looks like it's ready for the payoff. The place is laced with deer trails and some of the heavier ones amble right by the orginal stands I built. I lost a lot of my larger oaks in the hurricane but there are some left and the ones I've been planting are coming right along. Now with all the adjacent properties in various states of grown up cutdowns, my property has become the center hub of deer activity as it is the only land anywhere around managed just for the deer, and offering a variety of things none of the adjacent properties have. What it amounts to is every deer within several miles is using my little 20 acres on a regular basis.
