i have a summit bowholder on my summit goliath. yesterday afternoon around 11:30am while on stand i was inpecting my vital bow gear sight (youll find out why later) when all the sudden the bow started to slowly fall foward. im so lucky i was paying attention and not sleeping. i grabbed my tribute quickly and went to tighten the holder. i figured it just came loose but nope, IT BROKE! WTF!!!! it was the smaller of the two little bars (the one on the right in the pic) that broke. i cant figure out how this happened, i mean whats a bow weigh? 5 lbs. max. and it wasnt like it just snapped, it broke slow, more like it bent then broke. its made of plastic but its pretty thick? im not exactly a small guy and i tried to brake the other bar and cant!!!!! i was so pissed! did i mention i just missed a 35 yrd shot at a doe 10 minutes earlier. i called summit while still in the tree. their # is on the piece. they apologized and said a new one was on the way. i asked if they had ever heard of this happening and they said no, never. what a day. got on stand at 5:30am, saw 4 does just out of range, a spike at 10 yrds around 8am, then waited on stand till mid day because of the overhead moon at 1pm. sure enough had three does come in at 11:10am, figured they would move between 11am-12:30pm. have to thank cookie for teaching me that. then i miss a 35yrd shot at the bigger doe. shot like 6" under her into a tree root and pulled my insert out when i later retrieved my arrow. then around 11:30am the bowholder breaks. i had planned to sit from dark to dark if i had too but was too annoyed and concered about my shooting to stay. i also missed a 30yrd shot on opening day. ill be shooting from my stand at 20ft all day today or till i get my shooting problems fixed before i go back into the woods. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh im so disgusted with myself.

In a game where confidence is the most important factor, sitting up a tree doubting your equipt or yourself is a formula for failure.
A bowholder sometimes undergoes a lot of torque. Mine is made of steel. I'm not sure how I'd like plastic, even tough plastic. Where do you mount it on the stand, floor section or seat section?

In a game where confidence is the most important factor, sitting up a tree doubting your equipt or yourself is a formula for failure. Truer words have never been said , confidence is 60% of the shot, when in doubt your bound to screw it up. I always aim high out of a treestand, the distance of the angle is always longer than it appears . 10 yards up and 35 yards out is closer to a 37 yard shot. shooting at longer distances which 35 is starting to get out there it gets magnified. think about your pin , only approx 1/4 of an inch gets your arrow out another 10 yards to the point of impact, it just goes to show how precise your aim and holding the shot are, especially when your 20 feet high in a tree, one slight bobble and its off by a bunch at 35 yards. drop the bow early to "see the shot" and your arrow is affected by it, harder to hold the shot in a tree imo. You may be getting too antsy to shoot a bunch of deer this year maybe don't let it start adding undue pressure into an already pressure filled situation. You'll fill your tags , no need to try and get it done the first week or 2 . relax some its a long season , at that rate burnout will occur before the real good huntin starts. believe me I've been there before ..relax boy oh and the bowholder, buy a metal one . this is why I worry about the summit stirrups, plastic climber stirrups that break halfway up a tree is a recipe for disaster

my darn 30 yrd pin was loose and way too low. that explains the high shot at the 30 yrder opening day. and i missed the one friday low cause i was trying to compinsate. ALL FIXED! i feel better now. kinda scares me that summit makes a bowholder that so chinsy. is my stand made that chinsy? i mean....its just my life, ya know?

I use a different type and it works better for me mounted to the floor section.

I happened upon this and thought of this thread. This is the position my bow is usually in. I can get a shooting grip in one smooth move standing or sitting. I tried mounting to the seat section but found I have much less bow movement and bumping problems when I stand up if it's mounted to the floor section. Also I have much more freedom of movement with the bow down and out of the way. I honestly don't know how you can consistantly put on good hunts with the bow mounted to the seat section. As soon as I start glassing a good deer, I'd be bumping into it and screwin up.

I used to sell those type holders before they came standard with summit. I think I broke more then I sold?
