It is a rare deal that the Federal Army Reserve Training facility that I hunt is open on the weekends but it is open for the opening day of archery season. Truth be told, I don't even care if I see anything. I just want to sit in a stand and be out there. Can't wait!!!!

Can't wait!!!! me thinks if you took the book as seriously as you take archery, you'd be on the cover of NAW repeatedly. You live in a state where the new world record may be rubbing right now and if you don't get after him, someone else surely will.

It's a good point. I should take it more seriously. I certainly have the resources available to me and am real close on the knowledge base. This year though is a bad year for me to step it up as the demands of my career are uniquely overwhelming.
On one of the properties, the biologist told me that the biggest deer he's ever seen, is on the property and I haven't even pursued that animal.
I've already begun the process, but next year God willing, I'll shift my focus to that.
I do have a 9 day hunt this year, that does have the potential for a good buck, so I do have at least a chance at something decent this year. But it's only going to be a very limited effort.

You know I've been thinking about this all day. I think I will make a stronger effort on a good buck this year. I will have to completely change my focus.
I think that's just what I'll do.

Had a tall basket 7 at 10 yards and had a tall forky at 25 yards. It was just nice to get out there and work out the cobwebs.

It was just nice to get out there and work out the cobwebs. Same here. I had two does at 20 yards for 10 minutes. They were acting hinky and checking their backtrail. I was at fulldraw at one point and had the largest of the two dead to rights quartering away at 30 yards, but I let down for some reason instead of pullling the triggger.
