Since I'm a roofing contractor I have paid attention to this for years and it seems often a full moon brings rain with it.
We know deer don't move like we really want during bright moons but what about when the sky is cloudy and/or raining during full moon periods?

Odd timing on the subject .... You certainly have me convinced about the relationship between the two since you mentioned it awhile back. odd timing because with a full moon tomorrow , on the way home today from work I saw more than 1 cut cornfield with lots of deer in them. 5 pm blowing a gale noreaster and raining to beat the band and the deer are all out in the fields go figure that one out

Believe it or not..this past weekend was rainy and of coarse the moon was full. I had pretty much thought it was gonna be a non eventful day on saturday. Well they fooled me..i saw a nice 8 30 yrds from my stand (just couldnt get a shoot) 3 does and a spike (with 16-18 inch spikes on his head) My buddy saw 4 doe which were all moving to the fields.
Freedomrules.. I saw the same thing on friday while at work.

I never really paid much attention to that before.....but I will now. I know everytime I'm out hunting in the rain...full moon or not.... I usually see deer. Their usually more so on the move feeding and such when it's raining. They probably feel less threatened when it's raining because they know there will be less hunting pressure on them. Although they do seem to be more cautious, maybe the rain interfears with their hearing or something. I know its a little more easy to move a bit when your on stand in the rain. They live out there day to day. They know when its more likely for more human activity in the woods to be going on. Alot of hunters won't go hunting in the rain. But some of us diehard hunters don't let the rain stop us from being in the stand. That might be the perfect time for the big boy to slip up, and we'll be waiting.

Odd timing on the subject .... actually I was looking back at the dates I've killed some of my better bucks and the full moon relationships when I noticed rain mentioned in my log book on a couple of them. It pretty much skewed my work I'd put together and really got me thinking about it. Now I'm wondering about that rainy/cloudy period that often accompanies a full moon. I can't research it in debth because some of my better log books are gone but I think there's a pretty good chance these cloudy periods during an otherwise bright and full moon are some of the most productive hunting days of each season. I wish I'd noted the weather each day in all my books but back then I had no idea an internet would come along and so much detailed information could be assimilated. Now you old timers can sit back and push replay a few times and see if you get confused. ;D remembering getting the beasts out is a helpful insight to the weather at the time.
