It was a very interesting thing watching the 7 pointer come in last Sunday. I was setup off of a buck bedding area. My setup was based on following the big tracks through the buck seams through the thickest stuff and it took me to a heavily used creek crossing. I'd seen a 10 come out of there last year following that seam, so I knew that was a buck bedding area. So the 7 come in from accross the creek and he's looking back from where he came, alert but not necessarily alarmed. I was up bow in hand as his rack was real tall, but as soon as he's in the creek I immediately know that it's not up to bowman's standards so I'm going to have to pass. He worked up the bank to come in, in cover and then proceeded to walk right through my shooting lane, going in the direction of the buck bedding area. Anyway, I'm not paying attention to him. I'm figuring he's going home, getting away from whatever bumped him and there's lots of other activity I'm observing. Well some 15 minutes later I scan behind my tree and he's still there feeding. So 2 things. 1. When alarmed that's where he run to. 2. When he got there he felt plenty safe. This is my least favorite stand, but that observation got me liking it a bit more.
