The load is 240gr XTP in green sabot and two 50gr pyrodex pellets. The bullet did not exit. The buck ran about 60-70yds. Shot was through the top of the heart at 70 yds (off hand, I should add). See the Muzzleloading Forum on HuntAmerica for the story. Alternately, I could re-post it here.

There are many barrels available - just about anything you'd want from 22 to 45 caliber in many cartridges. The T/C site has a very long list of standard and custom barrels. Other companies also make custom barrels for the Encore.

Thanks. I don't write for a magazine, but have thought about it, and have written a muzzleloading article for the Sunrise Archery newletter. I write for myself in my hunting journal, and fellow hunters on the web who like to read the stories. Actually, my first hunting story (about the buck in my avatar) should be coming out in the Maryland Bowhunter's Society "Rubs and Scrapes" magazine some time soon. Unfortunately it will be a cut down and 'sanitized' version that leaves out some detail that might be distasteful to more sensitive readers, or give antis some ammo.
