With time being limited its been a tough year so far. every shot i have had was hampered in some form so i couldnt take it. I finally got one tonight, I did think it was a doe but it is a piebald. I might have to get the hide tanned. I went down to one of my spots around 4 pm. the farmer was cutting beans and happened to be loading the truck at the time. I went ove and let him know that i was going back near the back corner and had a bow not a ML. . I went back and setup in a blowdown. I trimmed 2 spots and had 1 already to shoot from. a strong wind in my face. first doe went by out of range and out of sight. I then saw a fairly decent buck with mass go the same route still out of range though. Maybe 25 minutes later I saw the piebald coming my way. I used the binos to see and thought it was a doe. I may have still taken it because it was a piebald. the deer was moving and refused to stop so i took a shot at it while it was moving , I also hit it back and knew it when I shot. Proving all the practice in the world a bad shot can still happen . I do have to give credit to the liberty heads which took the deer down within 40 yards despite the bad shot .here is the entrance and here is the exit while I was gutting the deer by the field edge , the farmer drove his combine over and shined his lights on it while i gutted it . he then helped me throw it on the combinje and gave me a ride back to the truck really cool ;D I wish I had my camera at the time

Congrats,Rick.Nice Piebald!Did you know there was the Piebald gene in the area?
That would have been a cool pic of your view from the Combine.Like John Wayne riding his horse into the sunset.
Chalk one up for the new bow already!

Good job. Kill every one of those you can. They mean trouble for the herd.

Nice job Rick. That is a neat looking deer!! I have to echo NC's statement. Piebalds are genetically defective and need to be taken from the herd, BB or otherwise!!

Nice Rick! Congrats. - That one has nice piebald markings. Iffn it was me, I'd be tanning that hide, or having somebody do it. I've hit 3 deer almost that far back this year, and only one went more than 100yds.

Rick~~You leave genitalia attached all the time while gutting? Just curious? When I first began hunting I thought there was only one way to gut a deer. Since then, I've seen MANY different ways that people gut deer. anyone else got a piebald? My very first bowkill was a piebald buck. He is a 5 X 3 including a small drop tine. I got a shoulder mount done and had the rest of the hide tanned. The rack is nothing to look at, but I'm damn proud of him anyway, being my first bowkill and all.

black deer are called melanistic I have seen some piebalds but not in that area before. this was the first i had a shot at. they certainly aren't a good sign at all . and about the wicker left on it .... when the farmer offered to give me a lift back to the truck with the deer I got in a hurry. I removed it after the pics lol. I have however left it intact if i wanted the urine from the bladder for later use . a tip for if you ever get a doe in heat keep the bladder intact and remove the urine for later use. if its full up you can get a bunch of free fresh doe whizz .
