This waiting for the rut.

Is very erie. I mean this really is my first time of largely foregoing hunting to make a concentrated effort during the rut. Certainly the anticipation is nothing like I have ever experienced before. I have never made this much preparation for such a short hunting opportunity. I know that for a lot of you this is your way and this will likely be my way going forward. Maybe it will just be this extremely intense this first year, but I suspect not. My hunting partner for this hunt has been hunting this way for years and he's even more pumped than I am.

I figure a mature buck will be active in daylight for about 3 days. Fortunately not all of em pick the same 3 days but it's still a dicey game we play.
