Let The Madness Begin

Well today was the last day of archery before the onslaught of rifles tomorrow. It was a madhouse today in the woods as I had numerous people walking around while I was bowhunting. Rabbit hunters hitting the public woods with other intentions I'm sure. I had dogs all around me this morning. Funny after they got farther away I saw 2 rabbits just walking around. I was dying to get a shot at one and get one with a bow but nogo. Later i had half the county as a group come by making enough noise to wake the dead. I also had another guy scouting walk right up to my blind, when I whistled he immediately looked up lol. i said no here in front of you in the ground blind, he apologized for screwing me up. I only saw 1 deer very late all day

the county is full up with hunters and i have no idea where its gonna be safe enough to hunt tomorrow we'lll see. I do plan on taking the rifle out, its gonna feel kinda funny using that thing but I need freezer meat. hopefully I'll see a few and take a couple out then I can go back to the bow and waste my time some lol ;D I sure wish MD would have more archery only public areas but they are bought out by the insurance companies so that won't happen here soon.

I saw 4 does full bore this morning, of coarse a button hung around me for about an hour. Its funny how quickly they know....

It doesn't take long for all the deer to go on edge around here either. I just plain would not hunt if I had to hunt public land during the firearms season around here. It sound like you have about the same situation.

I have a bit of an advantage with the property I hunt though. It's private and the land around it (private also) gets so much pressure that it's sort of a sanctuary. I hear so many shots all around me that I always wonder how any deer are alive at all. Maybe they shoot so much because they can't hit what they're aiming at. LOL
