Well, I have a box call...just bought it last month. I think it is a H. S. Strutt and it is waterproof. I have an old box call that is probably 30 years old. Still works!
I also have a H. S. Strutt slate (aluminum) call. I like it cause I don't have to sand it.
And last but not least I have the mouth calls.
I usually start out with the box call when trying to locate, then switch to the slate for calling in. The slate makes some real good sounds. And finally I use the mouth calls when the bird is close...well if I ever get one close enough to use it. Just trying to cut down on movement.

i usually have a pretty wide range of calls in the vest on each hunt, this year i am going back to a wing bone call, had one mastered manyyears ago, and got away from it, mainly because i loand it to someone, so i picked up another one this winter, actually has the perfect low volume yelp for close quarts combat,

I've got a "Triple Threat" , diaphram calls, and a Knight and Hale "lonsome hen". I like to use the "triple threat" to get them headed my direction. I then switch to the diaphram and "lonsome hen" in conjunction, sounds like more than one bird. Once they get REAL close, it's the diaphrams alone so they don't spook. This combination has worked. Not too far off from how I deer hunt...fwiw

I have so many calls in my vest, I sometimes think I'm a walking sporting good store. Here's what's usually in my vest... A homemade paddle boat call (Kentucky Thunder). A homemade regular box call(Kentucky Thunder). A slate pot call. A glass pot call. A gobbler shaker. Two homemade scratch boxes. About 10 to 12 different diaphrams. The "Wing." And of couse my own hands for scratching leaves.
