I went to 2 different proshops today in search of the perfect bow for me . I shot every bow known to man today. heres a breakdown of what i shot and thought of each. all of the bows were really nice bows and anything i say is just my opinion of what i felt at the time. ;D
Diamond:
Liberty
not a bad bow at all for the money, but had a big peak before it valleyed out. it was a bit jumpy when shot and i only shot it twice before not wanting to again. a good bow but wasnt what i wanted.
Bowtech:
Allegiance
again another big peak before it valleyed out, i'm simply not strong enough to shoot this bow. i had to wrestle her and for me it wasnt something i wanted to hunt with. Walt is a big boy and thats what I think it takes to handle this bow. it released well with very little shock but again it just didnt make me say i love it.
Tribute
a little smoother than anything i had shot yet . it also had a bit of a big peak for me and just like the allegiance i think its better for a bigger stronger person than me. again it felt good on release and was very stable on release. i left the first shop thinking of all i tried the tribute was the best.
all were lightning fast and felt good in the hand but bowtechs are for the strong shouldered guys .
headed off to laurel de and hit another pro shop.
Hoyt
Trykon:
huge and i mean huge peak before it Finally valleyed out for me. it was like pulling a bull along for a long time before it finally broke the peak and valleyed out. thought my eyes were gonna pop out . i shot it a few times and it was really quick and quiet on release but the big old peak definitely turned me off for hunting. another bow for the strong shouldered big boys imo.
Browning
Illusion:
hmm really nice bow and by far the smoothest i shot yet. hardly any peak at all and felt fairly decent in my hand. shot very smooth and was quiet on release with no forward kick. now were getting somewhere . all in all a very nice bow especially for hunting. it would be easy to pull with game in the area . a very nice bow indeed.
Mathews
switchback xt :
without a doubt the smoothest bow on the market . no peak at all to me and zero vibration on release. it felt like everything they actually said it would.i was shooting bulls without a sight on the thing just by instinct . about the fifth shot is all it took for me to buy the hat for $750 , luckily the guy was nice enough to give me the bow for free ;D. the worse part was i was determined that it wasnt going to be as nice as it actually was ... see i'm a cheap sob at heart. it IS all that they say.
as a sidenote the browning was as near as it got to the smoothness that the mathews had but being only $50 less i felt the resale value of the mathews , besides being a little smoother made me go that route.
I'll post another post on where i got it and all the changes and stuff i got put on it. a big thanks to Ash Hudson for spending all that time with me while trying to run a busy shop .. i passed out a few cards for the site while i was there too
