Manuel , my forman and I delivered a bedroom set Sunday morning to a man who I thought was stright up. We delivered the furniture about 1 away. Monday morning I had a nasty e=mail telling me he stopped payment on the checks, I got hold of my good buddy Dave and he did the paper work for sueing the guy and now I have to wait. It was a substancel hit so I dought if I will be doing any more hunting for a while. Last night I was having a very difficalt time trying to fall asleep and you all know me. I saked the Lord for help to settle my mind down and I found myself waking up at 5:30 this morning, very relaxed.

I have an elderly customer whose daughter has filed 4 complaints with the better business bureau. She says mother can hear water dripping in her wall so the new roof must be leaking. I finally got over there right after a rainshower and found the culprit. The rain dripping off the roof is hitting the chain link fence outside her window. Apparantly the old roof was leaking so bad, water didn't run off like that before.

NC, for some to falseafy a statement and send it to the BBB, you can sue them for deformation of charactor. Dave is doing that for me right now. Max you can sue for is $10,000 Ya John Coit , I know what Dave is capebable of and I just spoke to him and he said it will be a week before the fileing is finished and then served. This guy is a real horses A$$ He had 4 complants which were easly fixed on site at the time of delivery but he is now saying he can't trust me. What a joke. I even offered to make a return trip down to do the tuck up.

Dave, down here you can't sue the customers and stay in business, especially 80yr old women. ;D
Actually I could care less about the bbb. I don't answer to them. They're a rackett anyway.

I had a 75 year old lady con me. I made a desk top for her and delivered it , attached it with my son Jon, and I needed to needed to go to the hardware store to get brackets and when we returned she locked us out and canceled the check. She also called comsermer affairs and I sicked Dave on her. We got what we wanted. I know she was looking for a freebe so I asked Dave if we can sue her for getting my name on the Consermer affairs list he said yes. That's still in the air right now. In almost 30 years of busness I have only had 3 or 4 things like this happen and 2 in one year. It drives me crazy.

Apparantly the old roof was leaking so bad, water didn't run off like that before. I had to go back on no less than 3 different new roofs when the customers claimed they were leaking. All 3 turned out to be the same thing. They had a source of moisture, like a drier or something in the room. They had insulation tight against the underside of the roof deck with no ventilation. And, it was a warm day after very cold weather. The moisture was getting trapped above the insulation and freezing on the bottom of the decking. When it warmed up, it started to melt, soaking the insulation, then dripping in the room. Dick

Just out of curiosity do you charge a down payment? Just because someone looks like they can afford the work done doesn't always mean they can.

I did get a check for 2/3rd of the work after Dave sent him a letter. The rest we will have to take him to court for.
. I have always opperited by the honest method. I have your furniture and payment is due upon completion. But things are a changing.

I used to have a friend who had a handyman business. He did a $16K kitchen overhaul for a lady. Less than a week after he finished, she filed bankruptcy. It put him out of business and nearly into bankruptcy himself. It was the rottenest deal I've ever seen and was totally legal. Bankruptcy is nothing more than legalized theft.

Sadly, the morales of people today are changing quickly from honesty to what can I get for nothing. Its sad but often the nice guy gets nailed to the wall for it.
I was led to believe that you cannot file bankruptcy after such a financial expense. I work with a girl who's bankruptcy was denied because a week before court she maxed out her credit cards. It was the funniest thing ever.

I own a roofing company and I usually require no money at all until the job is complete. Sometimes I regret it but usually it helps me sell the job. Fly by nighters and jacklegs can't operate the way I do so I try to make it work to my advantage on the sales side. I always have the option of filing a lien on the property if things get sticky. In business 20yrs and I've never had to do that.

NC, I have never in 23 years had to file or go to count untill last month and This is only the 4th or 5th time in all my years in busness for myself have I not been paid, In all those jobs I did receive something. But I still don't want to change the way I do things , it's worked so long and something clicks between me and the customer that has given me so much good success with them. Thinking of doing this or that is all good and if not for self awaireness but to allow for minor changes in contracts or what ever.
>People are good, greated by God and I know most folks have good in them , and I look to pull it out when ever I 1st meet them.
