this place is opening up about 5 miles up the road from me. theyre building it now. suppose to have two olympic size pools indoor but with a glass retractable dome ive already joined. suppose to open this fall. i hope to be benching 500 plus when it opens. that should get a crowd watching. also hoping to cut some fat by then and find a sugar mamma there. very high $ area. www.bigvanilla.com/pasadena/this is the original one in arnold, md, about 20 min. away www.bigvanilla.com/index.html

I refer to my wife as my "sugar mama". She just got a promotion and is making a good bit more than me now. I keep telling her, it's going to cost her to get rid of me. ;-)

They're opening one of these near me, should be open by summer, same deal less than 5 miles. They have 120lb dumbells, so I've been waiting on them to open. www.xsportfitness.com/

When it comes to weights I definitely do better at a gym. It seems I need to drive there to get the right attitude. It's strange because today I had an off day and I damned near killed myself on the sledding hill. And it's nothing for me to push myself at home on the bag or to do pushups and situps with a 40 lb weighted vest or to keep doing sets of chinups till I can't get anymore.
And while I'm not strong like you, at the gym when I come down off of 405 on the squat and do a pump set of 315 for 12 and then 275 for 25, or when I get sets of 12 with 100 lb dumbells on the bench, people do notice. I think especially because I'm not that young and because I'm not that big a guy at 200lbs. I derive a good bit of energy from that.

Well schit, now I have to lose weight and keep it off. My blood work came back today and my sugar started creeping up. 45 years old and a family history of diabetes. It does respond to weight loss. I'll take 15 lbs off and check it again.

"better check it before then."
Yeah maybe I will. I do know that a 5-7% reduction in bodyweight has been documented as resulting in good control. So now my goal weight just got set to 187-193. But it needs to be fat loss.
Hey what do you use to test it?

I called my pharmacist and he set me up with a Glucose moniter and all that I need. I'll keep a log with my weight and fasting glucose and see how it responds to weight reduction. I wish I knew whether it is body fat or just weight that affects the levels.

got 440x1 today and actually felt weak. but im happy with that.
nutritional intake today was 2320 calories, 40g fat, 252g protein. dont even bother watching carbs with this diet but id estimate them to be very high, probably around 250g.

440 is good and that diet will cut you up in a hurry!!! Now that Easter is behind us(Ours is a week later), I'm starting with monitoring, weight and fasting glucose tomorrow. I'm going to take it twice a week and track it as the weight comes off.
One of the boys let me know that we're on again for sparring. They also let me know they got 5 more guys. So I have about a month to get in shape. And I'm very motivated. This whole thing has become a little insulting to me, because they're bringing in guys that have no formal fighting experience. Now it's true that I'm 45 and I've lost a little bit of speed. But I think there is a very big miscalculation that the youth that these guys bring, is somehow going to make up for experience, power, timing and balance. I've seen 3 of them hit. They don't know it yet, but I'm taking all five of those guys out. They want to come out, that's fine, bring it. I need to get in shape anyway.
It would be like someone of my strength potential to compare myself to eshore and pretend that I can bench with him.
I had a guy out today, come and workout with me. Big guy, real bad ass, talks big a big story. Some time ago I asked him, have you ever seen someone who knows how to hit? So I offered for him to come and work out with me. I've been hearing excuses now for 4-5 months, but finally he come out today. If he learned nothing else today, he learned that he has no business ever fighting anyone.
Got to take 15 off.

My wife used to be a dietician, she's helping me a lot here.
That workout is massive!!! Makes me want to lift again. But for what I'll be involved in, the chin ups, weighted pushups and situps and the hill with the vest is plenty, in terms of strength. I need to be on that bag twice a week, to get the mechanics down perfect.
I'm also walking daily to help burn some calories. Got 23 on that hill today, I'm running out of anaerobic threshhold at 17, so I added a few more to help push that up.
