WEll it's taken me a little while but I've got the workouts going good now. I was originally planning on lifting weights but the boys want to Box again so I've been hitting the bag twice a week, 15 2 minute rounds with a minute rest in between and I've been walking the sledding hill/stairs 2-3 times a week, I'm up to 15 flights, when I get to 20 I'll put on the 40 lb weighted vest. I need to drop 5 lbs for a trip to Mexico in 3 weeks but I did a whole lot better this year at not letting my weight get a way from me after the seasons end. I have to post up a picture of this sledding hill, it's a great workout.
I don't know it's 45 minutes twice a week on the bag and 15-20 minutes three times a week on the hill/stairs and I'm getting solid. Probably 3 hours a week including travel time, is all it takes to achieve an excellent level of fitness and you can tuck it in. Time well spent IMO.

Well, mine suck. Every time I start working out (in the last couple of years) no matter how easy I take it I hurt my lower back, right side. When I run my feet self-destruct (planar faciatus). Fortunately I can bike, but that's not so good in the winter. Hiking with a pack is OK, so sometimes I go to "The Ridge" as Bowman likes to call it, and scout for deer sign.

the last few years i have taken a work/walk approach. concentrating on cardio and motion fitness.between work and walking everyday it was working out. i've left the weights by the wayside for the most part. i used to work out with a "bullworker" , it was based on isometrics and muscle tone. it actually worked well and was quick and easy, like everything as we get older and busier, it went by the wayside. all in all i was in good shape , now i got work to do on my thigh injury. i could also lose 5 lbs , but i havent gained much this winter. and a boxing regiment will get ya in shape too . i have a friend who is a fanatic about fitness. a smaller guy that you would never think was all that. he does like 1000 push ups, 1000 sit ups and 12 rounds of training like every day. too much for me

I've lost 9 lbs. since 1/1/06. Cardio with weight training. I'll start running when the weather/time changes. I want to lose 8lbs more by the end of March.

The thing that I like the most about this regimen, is the convenience. I have the bag in the basement and it doesn't get anymore convenient, the sledding hill is not far from my home and is on my way home from work. If I'm really pressed for time, I'll just walk up and down the stairs at home 40 times to at least keep it going. Whatever the fitness regimen, the key to success is consistency.
Twanger, I hear you on the running. I'm kind of a big guy for running, so over the years I've realized that I can't run year round without breaking down, so the only running I'll do is the 10 weeks, every year or 2 when I decide to do a marathon. Walking up the hill, provides plenty of cardio and strength. I'll bet working that "Ridge" provides a vigorous workout without the impact.
Thing here has me especially motivated is that my wife is traveling on business at the end of the month to Mexico and bought me a ticket to go with her. Least I can do is show up in shape.

Well my big problem here now is my weight, it's starting to creep up on me. I told myself that I wouldn't let myself get over 200 and this morning I tipped the scales at 202. That's got to come to a stop right now. I'm going to step up the workouts to 6 per week and be real disciplined with the diet. I'm pissed!!!!

Well I'm beat. After tipping the scales at 202 yesterday, I hit the stairs hard yesterday. Today I got out there and scouted out a new property and did post season scouting on another. I covered over 5 miles on the gorund. And this evening I did another 45 minute boxing workout. I'm going after this hard.

Well I've really put the hammer down on this now. 3 times a week on the heavy bag, 2 times a week on the Sledding hill/stairs and once a week a 4-5 mile hike through the hunting grounds. Brought the weight back down to 200, which took a lot of discipline because I'm still putting on mass. I'm going to keep this thing going and lean up a good bit more, to give myself a bit of a cushion.

198.5 grinding it out. I have a short term goal of 196.5. Just getting the workouts in consistently, cut out most of the junk and very limited alcohol consumption. Just a glass of wine here and there with my wife. Once I hit that 196.5 goal I'll assess, set a new goal and get er done. The timeline is April 1st.
eshore, hows the bench going?
